TRIPS ~ SAIL ROCK & MARINE PARK
Sail Rock is a "Pinnacle" rising from a depth of 40m to above the surface. This dive site is the most spectacular pinnacle in the area featuring "the chimney," a 10-meter vertical rock tube through which diver s may ascend. Large schools of barracuda, jacks and batfish congregate about the rock. This (and Chumphorn Pinnacle) is the best place to meet a whaleshark. Visibility averages 15-40m. Water temperature ranges from 32 C Mar.-Oct. to 25 C Nov.-Feb. Conditions are generally easy. Strong currents and difficult conditions are rare.
Trips must be booked in advance. They include 2 dives, equipment rental, transfers, & lunch. We collect you at your hotel between 7:00 and 8am and drive to Bophut Beach . The boat ride to Koh Tao is 1 ½ hours and lunch is eaten in a restaurant. Travel to Sail Rock is approximately 1 hour for speedboat and 2 hours for big boat. Box lunch is eaten on the boat between dives.
The Angthong National Marine Park consist of limestone islands with plenty of caves, swim-throughs and overhangs. The best area is at the far north end of the park; Koh Yippon, Koh Wao Yai and nearby islands. The visibility is usually a bit less than at Koh Tao but the divesites are physically much more interesting. We rate Koh Yippon Lek as one of the top 3 divesites in the area after Chumphorn Pinnacle and Sail Rock. The coral is varied with many types of seafans and black corals, and there are plenty of fish. Visibility averages 15m. Box lunch is eaten on the boat between dives.
